Seminar - CPPR at KCL
I will give a seminar as part of the Centre for Public Policy Research at King’s College, London. Between September 2018 and April 2019 I will be documenting the Young Producers scheme at the Royal Albert Hall. The scheme recruits a group of young people to engage with the work of the Hall over several months, culminating in an event devised collectively by the group. Young Producer schemes are becoming part of the work of venues and arts organisations in and out of London, yet little has been written to conceptualise the nature of these schemes: are they there to build a future audience, or to act as an apprenticeship for potential future work in the arts? Using ethnographic approaches (non-participant observation, interviews, documentary study and conversational analysis) I will seek to illuminate the project at the Royal Albert Hall, connecting with my previous pilot project at Guildhall School (co-creation with under 18s). This session will present my initial findings following the completion of the project in April 2019.
